Roles & Responsibilities

Internet Marketing Consultant (IMC) – Main Contact Point

  • Monthly meetings
  • Provides website support or training
  • Provides guidance on strategy and SEO
  • Google Ads management
  • Email marketing support
  • Social media posts (3x a month max.)
  • Measurement of KPIs via multiple tools including Google Analytics and Search Console
  • Keyword research for organic and paid

Content Developer

  • Meet once a month/provides a questionnaire for content topic/ or customer sends a resource
  • Provides a draft of the content written
  • Provides edits to each content piece
  • Background research
  • Publishes the content

Help Desk

  • Available for emergencies
  • Point of Contact if IMC is unavailable (the IMC is on vacation, out sick, or any other reason they are unable to answer emails or phone calls for an extended period of time).

Customer

  • Relays requests for routine site edits to the IMC and meets with IMC monthly
  • Provides industry expertise and business best practices to the IMC & Content Developer

Continuous Process

The Content Development Cycle

During the monthly meeting the IMC and customer will decide on a content topic for the month

IMC passes along the information internally to the Content Developer after discussing with customer

Content Developer reaches out to the customer for an interview meeting, sends a questionnaire, or the customer provides resources

Content Developer does more research and writes a draft. Sends the draft to the customer

Content Developer completes any revisions received from the customer

Customer provides the final approval

After content revisions, the content developer creates the task for the content to be uploaded to the site.

Customer is notified by the content developer that the content is live on the site

How Does the IMC Process Work?

Set Up

  • Initial Meeting with your IMC
  • Google Analytics access and site tracking setup.
  • Getting access to Google Ads, Mailchimp, and any social accounts.
  • Getting access to Google Business profile.
  • Providing Editor access and basic Divi/WordPress training.
  • Review marketing goals/KPIs
  • Site audit and keyword research tracking setup

This is usually completed in the first month and is only occasionally required if new plugins or platforms are introduced.

Content Development

You will work with your IMC to decide the content piece each month. The IMC will pass the information along to the content developer, who will reach out for an interview or send a questionnaire for an expert opinion.

This is an ongoing monthly process.

Management

  • KPIs / Objectives (IMC will help you measure your respective goals).
  • Boundary Conditions (IMC will answer any questions about what is in scope.)
  • Best Practices (IMC will make sure best practices are being followed)
  • Your IMC will schedule and follow up with every meeting to ensure they are following their action steps.

*The customer may assess if they would like editor access to make some of their own changes with IMC guidance.

Visibility

  • Social media posting (3x a month max)
  • SEO (optimizing pages w/keywords, meta descriptions, page titles, alt image text, etc.)
  • Local SEO (Google My Business Page)
  • Email Marketing (Mailchimp email campaigns)
  • Press Releases/ Blog Posts (Part of the content development)
  • Google Ads
  • Keyword Research (Organic and paid)

*Social media, email marketing, and Google Ads are not required and customers are required to have their own accounts and billing information.

Measurement

  • Google Analytics reports (provided monthly during meetings or by request.)
  • Google Search Console (provided monthly during meetings or by request.)
  • SEMrush (used for measuring keyword movements and organic growth.)
  • Other (Other tools can be used depending on plugins, etc.)

This is an ongoing monthly process.

  • Meet with their IMC monthly. We completely understand that working as a small business many people “wear a lot of hats” and may not be able to commit to a monthly meeting each month. We are flexible and will work with your schedule!
  • Provide access to measurement tools like Google Analytics as soon as possible. We can help you create an account if you don’t have one or aren’t able to access your previous account.
  • Though not required – social media, email marketing, and Google Ads may improve traffic on the site when working with your IMC.
